The Seasons of the Wine Country

Sonoma county’s temperate weather is perfect for developing exceptional vintages and drawing visitors year round.
In the fall, the grapes are harvested and the grapevine leaves take on their vivid autumn colors — orange, red and brown. The average high for fall is 75 degrees. Fall is the most romantic of all the seasons in Sonoma County.
The weather turns chillier when winter sets in. This the wettest of the seasons and the hills turn green. For the surrounding countryside, it’s California’s spring time, and a perfect time to get out into nature.
In March, the weather starts to warm up and dry off. The warmer weather brings the grapevines back to life and new leaves appear. The average high lingers in the low 70s over the spring.
With summer, longer days set in, the rain stops and the grapes ripen. The long days are ideal for treks through the wine country.
